11/27/2019 7:24:00 AM Senior group to take Christmas trip to see musical
Stephanie Swanson Activities Coordinator
The holiday season will soon be upon us and what better way to kick it off than an overnight trip to the Fireside Dinner Theater on Dec. 5 and 6 to see "A Christmas Story, The Musical." Ralphie wants only one thing for Christmas, an official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle. "A Christmas Story, The Musical" is the hilarious account of Ralphie's desperate quest to ensure that this most perfect of gifts ends up under the tree this Christmas. It is based on the classic 1983 movie that has become a holiday tradition that millions wait for every year!
Of course, everyone looks forward to the Fireside's famous buffet and this year it will start off with their signature salad topped with papaya chutney dressing and served with freshly baked breads. Then for each show, their chefs prepare two special entrée selections in addition to these Fireside favorites.
We will also be doing some shopping and other sight-seeing adventures. This year we're stopping at the Burlington (Coat) Factory in Appleton on the way down. You have probably seen their commercials; they have a lot more than just coats, especially now with the Christmas season upon us! We'll be having lunch at the Johnson Creek Comfort Suites, where we'll also be staying. Then those who wish to just kick back and enjoy some downtime at the motel, use the pool or whatever, can stay while the rest will go a couple miles down the road to the Johnson Creek Premium Factory Outlets for a little more shopping. Then we'll return to the motel for a bit before heading to Fort Atkinson to the Fireside Dinner Theatre to enjoy the grand buffet and performance of "A Christmas Story!"
On Friday we're heading to the Pabst Mansion in Milwaukee for a tour of this amazingly beautiful structure. We toured the Pabst Brewery previously so this time we'll tour the mansion. After our tour we'll head over to the Golden Corral in Milwaukee for lunch. They always have something for everyone!
Our last tour will be of Foamation, Inc., in Milwaukee where they make the Cheesehead Hats. You will learn how their iconic Cheesehead Hat came to life, what made it popular, and where the original lives today. Next you'll learn about their custom products and development. Finally, you'll experience the production up close to see how they make their products. You'll learn about the different types of foam, the equipment and the hands-on-process from start to finish.
Let me know if you would like to make your very own as that will be an additional $25 or $30 depending on the style you choose!
The price on this all-inclusive adventure is $252 (double occupancy) or $291 (single).
We'll be leaving the ADRC Center, 100 W. Keenan St., at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5th and returning at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6.
Mark your calendar now for Dec. 5 & 6 and call me at 715-369-6304 for your reservation.
