12/5/2019 7:28:00 AM Salvation Army bell ringers needed
The Rhinelander and Minocqua Salvation Army chapters are in need of more bell ringers.
"This year, the bell ringing season is the shortest it can be," according to a Salvation Army press release. "With Thanksgiving falling so late in the month, we didn't start ringing at most locations until Nov. 22."
As of Dec. 1, there are only 20 days remaining before Christmas Eve, and more than 300 shifts are unfilled, the release states.
Bell ringing is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Shifts are 90 minutes.
For every donated, $.86 stays in the local community, the release states. The remaining $.14 is used for state and national Salvation Army relief efforts.
Donations are used to provide emergency assistance to area residents with housing, medical and transportation needs, the release states.
Last year, donations to the Minocqua Salvation Army assisted 187 individuals, families and the elderly while donations to the Rhinelander Salvation Army assisted 404 individuals, families and the elderly. Visit www.registertoring.com to sign up for a bell- ringing shift.
