Certain professions tend to attract offbeat personalities, the square-peg-in-round-hole eccentrics, if you will.
Features reporting is that kind of gig and, well, I'm that kind of person.
I don't mean "offbeat" like singing a tune (although that's not so great either), but also not what you might expect.
I like things that are totally out there and different from anything else. Unconventional people (and their quirky tendencies) inspire me. I seek out the unusual, those things others deem outlandish or kooky. The more bizarre, the better.
My passion for the unconventional has led me to some pretty peculiar places. I spent my last year teaching English in Berlin, Germany - the eccentric capital of the world - where I discovered just how odd I really am. I spent my time scouting out the best street art in the dirtiest, dingiest alleyways. My weekends were filled with poetry slams and open mic nights, and my evenings were spent watching old Cabaret-style black-and-white German movies.
What can I say? I'm weird. But I've discovered that it's cool to be weird. And I am so pleased to share my weirdness with all of you.
I am glad to be back in my hometown of Rhinelander searching for wonderfully unique people and events to share with all of you.
So that's me - your quirky, world-traveling, wannabe yogi who thinks she can write feature stories.
Stay strange, but don't be a stranger.
