UPS has announced a Rhinelander driver is among 30 elite drivers from Wisconsin newly inducted into the company's worldwide Circle of Honor, an honorary organization for UPS drivers who have achieved 25 or more years of accident-free driving.

The Alzheimer's Association has announced that an Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group will now be available by phone each month.

"A telephone support group is a way for people in rural communities to connect with other families, answer questions and provide support to each other," the Alzheimer's Association stated in a press release.

Despite a parade-time temperature around 20 degrees, several gathered for the annual parade, which kicks off a week of St. Patrick's Day related events for participating downtown businesses.

Drone derby registration closes March 17
The inaugural Drone Derby will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at the Hodag Banquet Center (formerly the Taj) located at 1540 Pueblo Drive, Rhinelander.

"This is a fundraiser, and this year we will donate all proceeds to the Rhinelander Salvation Army," event organizers said in a press release.

John Margitan of Minocqua was recently awarded the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors (WSLS) Lifetime Achievement Award for the significant contributions he has made to the higher education of land surveying in the State of Wisconsin and other contributions to the profession. WSLS is a statewide organization of Professional Land Surveyors with over 900 members.

The paintings were done by students at Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tenn., outside of Chattanooga. This wonderful donation is greatly appreciated by residents and staff. The School District of Rhinelander Community Education Program is offering a class "Ditch Food Stress and Learn to Love Eating Again" starting March 21.

The class is set to run on Tuesdays from March 21 - April 11 (4 meetings) in the Rhinelander High School Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., according to a district press release. The instructor will be certified health and wellness coach and registered dietitian Paula Sweney-Wagler.
