A saturday on snowshoes
Racers trotted across the snow-covered trails at Holiday Acres in Rhinelander Saturday as part of the annual Snowshoe Hare snowshoe race. The race was put on by RASTA (Rhinelander Area Silent Trails Association) and is part of the Braveheart Series.

Anniversary benefit dinner for Frederick Place to be held Saturday, Feb. 4
To mark the sixth anniversary of the opening of the Frederick Place homeless shelter in Rhinelander, the Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing, Inc. (NATH) will host a benefit dinner Saturday, Feb. 4 at The Quality Inn located at 668 West Kemp Street. The buffet dinner will be catered by the Rhinelander Café & Pub, according to a press release announcing the event.

Eye screening
Rhinelander Lions Club member Bill Haenel watches as a Nativity Of Our Lord students have their eyes screened. Rhinelander Lions Club Eye Screening Chairperson Tim Gengler reported that the Rhinelander Lions Club eye screening volunteers conducted 700 eye screenings in the Rhinelander and local church schools. School authorities were notified as to the children that had vision problems. The school nurse will notify parents of affected students as to having the eyes examined by local eye clinics.
